Dr. Snyder has been recognized internationally for his research on marital assessment, for his outcome research on marital therapy, and for his work as a consultant to mental health and clergy members in the U.S. military. He has served on the editorial boards of many scientific journals, and is author or editor of four books on treatment strategies for emotional dysfunction in marriage and on extramarital affairs.

Dr. Snyder has received the 2005 award from the American Psychological Association for Distinguished Contributions to Family Psychology, and both the Excellence in Teaching Award and the Distinguished Contribution to Scientific Research Award from the Texas Psychological Association.  He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Personality Assessment.
