Dr. Belter's early training in psychology led her to work in intensive inpatient settings with adolescents and adults who were experiencing very serious problems. In these settings she developed substantial skills in both individual and family therapy.  She later became the director of an adolescent inpatient treatment center, from which she transitioned to independent practice.

Dr. Belter has been co-director of AAP since 1994. She has consulted with MHMR, with Martin Luther Homes, with several school districts and with many physicians and other health professionals in and around Brazos County. Her approach to psychological problems begins with a very systematic assessment and diagnostic process that results in a treatment plan that is uniquely tailored to the problems and strengths of each individual client.

Her approach involves helping her clients come to a deeper, richer understanding of their problems in order to lead a more fulfilled and satisfying life.
