Melinda Thompson, LPC
Ms. Thompson is a licensed professional counselor with twenty-five years of experience providing a wide range of mental health services to individuals, children, and families. After finishing her training she worked as a counseling officer with Brazos County Juvenile Services for five years, providing counseling, supervision, and reports for the courts. In 1992 she developed a skills-based incentive program for juvenile offenders. She left probation work in 1993 and took a position with the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of the Brazos Valley, providing intensive individual and family therapy to children and adolescents. Ms. Thompson has expertise working with families and individuals in crisis due to anxiety, depression, severe behavior disorders, attention deficit problems and the aftermath of acute trauma. She has extensive experience with "both sides" of parent-child relationship problems and works extensively with the families of divorce. Ms. Thompson serves on the board for the Dispute Resolution Center of Central Brazos Valley.
